Many students have found this to be a welcoming and convenient place to live, often highlighting the friendly staff, quick maintenance, and a strong sense of community, all within a great location close to campus and social areas. However, some residents have experienced frustrating issues with maintenance, particularly concerning air conditioning and appliances, as well as concerns about new management practices impacting move-out charges and overall communication.

just here to add to my two friends reviews. WHY is it 81 degrees in our apartment?!?!? they’ve already came twice to “fix” the AC. this is RIDICULOUS!! microwave doesn’t work, knobs for the shower keep falling off, mysterious stains all over the carpet… this is ridiculous and not what we were expecting at all UPDATE: been here for a month and STILL don’t have a working microwave. office is closed at the most random times. don’t live here

Do not stay in 1818, you will definitely regret it! Never, ever will I recommend 1818 to any one again! Terrible management and manager, terrible customer service, terrible people whose focus are only on money, money, money with no justifiable or logical reasons! I stayed in this apartment for over 2 years witnessing three different Ownership and Management. This one, which is the current one is the worse of all!!! First when I was moving out after they firstly took over the apartment, for no justifiable reason, they slammed I and my roommates with over $170 charges for damaged sofa, something that was existing in the Unit way before I moved in. They never bothered to check their records, they just wanted me to pay for no reason and extort us, very lazy management who are just after taking people's money. I had to direct to look at the "move in condition" form I filled and directed them to where I explicitly noted the sofa was damaged at the time of move. This saved I and my roommate from paying their falsified charges, it was eventually dropped! Fast forward, I recommend someone to rent with the apartment (they never provided any incentive for referers, previous management would do this), the residents always kept the apartment clean, never was there any record of violation or unclean state everytime they inspect the apartment before the last summer break. 2 months into the last summer break when no one was obviously in the unit and haven't visited in months because of the break. They visited the apartment and slammed the residents with a cleaning violation fee, a violation fee that was never in the signed lease. How on earth will you go into people's apartment at a vulnerable period like a Summer Break, when you knew no one was around and slamming a cleaning fee? How exactly do to expect the apartment to look knowing fully well people traveled for holidays? A unit that has not been occupied for over 2 months. Very inhumane and terrible business practice! The rude manager never provided a justifiable reason or response despite several questions to justify the charges based on the lease. They just wanted to extort and get money from the residents by all means. The Manager of this apartment is a terrible person and is currently managing the apartment badly! Everyone is saying the same thing, change the terrible management because they make a final mess of the apartment, this is not the 1818 I used to know! Under the past to managements before this terrible, I was happy to pay more despite the yearly increase in my rent and even with cheaper apartments around. It is definitely my greatest regret to ever recommend this apartment to someone under a terrible management as this. They do not care about the service they render, restricted access to gyms and other services once they took over. The management do not consider the long term impact of this terrible practice their business and residents. This is why they have so many bad reviews in past few months because they leave a bad taste in the mouth of their residents, they find every means to cheat you and take your money without excellent customer service. Definitely not a place I will ever recommend again to anyone! You will regret living in this apartment under this current management! Save yourself the headache and pain!

Don't live here for more than a year unless all your roommates are staying. They will charge you out the ass if the main area isn't completely empty or for shit that was there before you moved in. (In the main area.) I repeat: DON'T renew your lease unless everyone is staying. They also will increase your rent if you don't renew early, so keep that in mind as well if you plan on renewing. (Mine went from $565 to $599, excluding utilities.) (Attached is the main area after inspection but before "repairs.") Since I'm here, there are some other misgivings that I have. My room was in a less-than-stellar condition when I moved in, including but not limited to: a broken hallway light, a missing toilet paper holder, a deteriorating desk chair, chipped paint on the bathroom ceiling, water damage behind the toilet, a shoddy Wi-Fi connection, and the semi-frequent appearance of roaches alongside other small insects (I keep my room clean, BTW). I plan on making a maintenance request for this, but the fact that this was the state my apartment was in at the start of my lease was ridiculous.
