Lyons Apartments

Great information

I have loved living at The Lyons. I found them in my last year of college and couldn't be more happy. It's an older building with a lot of charm. Ms. Kay who works in the front office is so kind and wonderful, and Tommy who is our maintenance worker is so helpful and quick to fix things. The Lyons truly is a gem, it'll be bitter sweet when I leave this town.

They never answer their phone and when you personally walk into the office to ask a question, the receptionist acts like you inconvenienced her beyond belief. I went in to ask about available floor plans and she says that they might have some available without checking or offering any other information.

This is a hidden gem. I moved to Athens for school, did not know much about the area, and was so happy I found out about this place in my second year. The location is perfect (only 10 minutes walk to school), free parking is available, the rent is cheap, and the staff is amazing. Tommy (the maintenance guy) is VERY responsive in handling all the maintenance request. He also delivers packages from the leasing office straight to each resident so you don't even have to pick them up. There is no pest (roaches or whatever, and the management uses routine extermination services), which is a big deal for me - at my other rental place in Athens there were roaches every week. There are some downsides I'm not gonna hide: the building is old, there are only 2 washers and dryers in the building, no other amenities, the leasing office is only open weekday afternoons. That said, none of the downsides really affected me, and for what I paid, I was very happy with the place. I moved out when I left the city but definitely recommend this apartment building for future renters.

I have lived at The Lyons for four years now. The Lyons is *not* the most beautiful place in Athens, but it is extremely affordable with an exceptional location for students. Maintenance is swift and the groundskeeper is very nice while doing a fantastic job. Pest control is periodic and after a few months I have not seen a roach in years. My biggest complaint is the on-site laundry situation. There are only 2 W/Ds for 60 units which is rough and if you live on an exterior apt, the location is very inconvenient. Otherwise, the Lyons is an excellent option for students or if you are on a budget. It is not perfect, but I never expected it to be.
