This community generally offers a welcoming environment with friendly and helpful staff, particularly in the leasing and maintenance teams, who are often praised for their promptness and professionalism. However, some residents have experienced concerns regarding unexpected fees being added to leases, inconsistent amenity availability like pool closures, and ongoing issues with gate functionality, which impacts security. Additionally, a few residents have reported persistent pest problems and slow response times for crucial maintenance requests, leading to discomfort and increased utility costs.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this apartment complex. When I initially inquired, the unit was unavailable for viewing due to “renovations.” On my move-in day, 11 days ago, I walked into my unit with dead cockroaches and other pests lying around. It was clear the apartment had not been cleaned prior to my arrival. When I brought this to management, I was told I should “get used to roaches because they were here first.” lol Okay, they're not wrong. The roaches were here first, but that's not how you should respond to your tenants. Since moving in, it’s been about 11 days, and I have encountered multiple cockroaches and other pests daily. I understand Tampa has pests, but this feels a little weird, and not cleaning the unit is inexcusable, and telling someone with an actual phobia to just get used it is really unnecessary. Beyond that, the service has been abysmally slow. My mailbox lock doesn’t work, and despite multiple delivery notifications, I cannot access my mail. I was promised this would be resolved, but the request vanished from the system, leaving me waiting and uninformed. I experienced a similar runaround with my blinds, which left me without privacy for days. I was repeatedly told someone would fix them “by the end of the day,” only for it to be postponed again and again. I can even handle the postponement. What irks me is the false promises, because when they don’t follow through, I have to check in with them again and that’s a cycle that is very exhausting. At this point, I have even started wondering whether my calls are somehow being filtered and ignored because, no matter what time of day I call, I can almost never get through to the office. Whether that’s actually the case or not, the result is the same: I am left completely in the dark with no updates and no communication. Even if an issue were resolved, I would have no way of knowing because no one calls to provide an update, and I can’t reach anyone to ask. That lack of communication has been one of the most frustrating parts of this entire experience. In my previous rental history, I rarely had to call maintenance. Here, basic issues are a struggle. I feel like I was tricked into renting a unit that wasn’t selling. The way management treats residents makes me feel like a burden, not a valued tenant. I unfortunately ignored negative reviews before moving in, thinking they were exaggerated. I was wrong. I strongly advise future renters to take the negative reviews seriously. I had hoped to stay here while completing my Ph.D., and while it’s only been 11 days of living here, I’m already considering moving out. Honestly, between the management and persistent and constant daily and nightly unwelcome visitors (pests), I have a feeling this is going to be a very stressful year for me, which is not how I wanted to start my program. Lesson learned: if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. The photos posted by the management looked really good and promising, and I’m ashamed to say that I fell for it. I guess in my desperation to be close to campus, in a complex that didn't feel too “studenty”, I failed to see the warnings, and now am getting traumatized daily and nightly. I fell for the pretty photos. So take my word, and save yourself the trouble, drama and trauma—look elsewhere. Update: July 8th 11:21 pm I don’t know what’s happening anymore. They’ve been coming non-stop. It’s 11:21 pm and I have had to kill around 10 roaches in the last 2 hours. I don’t know where they’re coming from, and I am seriously considering moving out at this point. I haven’t slept properly since I moved in because I have a genuine fear of roaches. Someone from Communications called yesterday after reading the review and we spoke and I requested serious pest control, and they did agree to do that. I was originally going wait until I unpacked everything, but by the way things have been going today, I will request it for asap. I will continue updating my review until either a solution has been found or I move out.

They are approachable, collaborative, and consistently work to create a community where residents feel heard and valued. Their commitment to making Cortland Lakecrest a great place to live is evident in everything they do. One of my favorite things about living here is the beautiful setting.
