I accidentally pulled into this apartment complex after taking a wrong turn. When I reached the guard shack, the security guard told me I needed to turn around and leave, which was completely fine because I was not trying to enter the property. The issue was how the situation was handled. I drive a long truck, and the area was tight, so instead of backing up in a small space, I told him I was going to pull forward and turn around safely. As I did that, the guard ran after my truck and slapped the side of it. When I came back around to leave, I asked him why he did that and what the problem was. His attitude was rude, unnecessary, and completely unprofessional. Because of this experience, I’m leaving a one-star review. I would highly recommend that management provide better training for Eric and any other security staff on basic communication, common sense, and customer-facing behavior. A simple wrong turn should not turn into someone hitting a vehicle or treating people disrespectfully.

One of the best decisions I have ever made was to follow my heart and move to the Carlton Arms in St. Petersburg, FL. This community is located on the water in sunny South St. Pete adjacent to Maximo Park. It’s close to many attractions like Boyd Hill Nature Preserve and Pass a Grille Beach. And there are plenty of grocery stores and other amenities near by. But what I love most about living here is the community itself. The staff are the best of the best. They have become family to me. They care about your quality of life and want to see you happy and thrive. There are monthly community events and parties including bingo, card night, pool aerobics, yoga, line dancing classes, coffee’s, etc. The neighbors are friendly and supportive. I recently downsized from a three bedroom to a one bedroom within the community and so many of my neighbors offered support during the move. I love them and I love it here. Yes, there is a waitlist to live here. But don’t let that discourage you. Get on that waitlist. Miracles are real. And living here has improved my quality of life. I have met so many amazing people and have had a lot of fun in the process. Also, there are no hidden fees or costs. The move in process is easy and our maintenance crew is the best. You have round the clock support. The property is pristine and well maintained and living so close to the water is an absolute delight. Being an eco friendly human- my only grievance is the lack of recycling options. But luckily there is a recycling center less than 2 miles away. I also do not love that we spray so many chemicals on the lawn. But I realized this is a corporate thing and happens in every community. If you’re thinking about moving here, I 100% recommend. Victoria, Shelia, and Lucille in the office are amazing and can get the process started for you.

I have lived here for almost 2 years now and while I have been happy this parking lot situation is crazy and the way it’s being handled is ridiculous. The first time they worked on the parking lot was a nightmare with limited parking for residents. Now they are working on the parking lot and the sea wall which leaves for even less parking for residents and it seems management doesn’t care. I notice last week the security supervisor car was parked behind his apartment every day and one night was the only car in the section that was being worked on. When I and other residents asked why that was the night shift just replied they didn’t know they had just gotten to work. On top of that the security supervisor advised us that the side gate would be open for us to get to our apartment if we parked in the front lot and told us how to get in. Thursday the gate was open all night for us but Friday it was locked with no heads up. It’s upsetting knowing that us as residents don’t get the same rights as employees who are residents and getting off late at night and not being able to park and seeing an employee being conveniently parked behind their home and we have to park then walk down the block and through the neighborhood to get to ours. Or had they left the gate open like we were promised. I’ve attached photos of the security supervisor car being the only car parked in the blocked off section and where the gate was open for us to get to our apartment.

I have lived at Carlton Arms Apartments since 1991. I moved here because my mother moved here in 1978 and love it. So much so that she lived here til her passing in 2017 at the age of 93. I have lived here, so far, for 35 years with no plans to leave. I have lived in apartments my entire adult life in many states and never experienced this type of complex. The staff is fabulous. Maintance is exceptional. Grounds are beautiful. They have lots of activities, etc. for us.
