I’ve never done reviews so I’ll be as honest as possible to give out the pros and cons. If you solely want to come home and sleep while enjoying the amenities then sure, it’s a nice spot. A bit pricier than average but decent. However, if you feel like you would rely on wifi to either work from home, study or take an online final (as I would for all), HIGHLY consider another apartment. It’s not necessarily The Standard’s fault but at the end of the day, they choose who they partner with for wifi and Student Housing Technologies who provides their wifi (which is a pubic wifi btw) is the ABSOLUTE WORST provider. Since the start of the year, there has been ongoing issues with connection coming in and out and also going out completely for long periods of time for EVERYONE. I’m talking almost a month in the middle of the semester without stable wifi. And if you plan to move in this fall thinking it’ll be better, I’m still here until the end of my lease in July and my room has still been unusable for doing work in because the wifi issues have creeped back up again. The people over at Student housing technologies don’t answer phone calls when you’re having issues and it can take WEEKS before they read your email. HORRENDOUS service that they provide whenever there are issues. You have to constantly nag them for help and even then they may get to you in a week as opposed to two weeks. We’ve had people here take exams in April/May and had the wifi come down which didn’t allow them to finish their exams in a timely manner. And if that weren’t enough, there have been fire alarms going off in the middle of a weekday night and thin walls where you can hear other people’s conversations. Although some staff are new and not trained, there are still some seniors there and they’re doing the best they can with this shitty residential company and how they run their buildings and having the audacity to increase 10% if you decide to renew the following year. But hey, if you want to spend more than average on rent for amenities that have bugs lingering around everywhere, potential disgusting/unsanitary roommates (which I have experienced) and don’t rely on using the wifi, then it’s not a bad place.

This was my first time living in shared housing and it was okay. I got lucky and got a great roommate, when I first moved in. A couple months later, my friend moved in with us and things were good. However, two weeks after she moved in, we received two day notice that two more girls would be moving in with us. This gave us an inadequate amount of time to organize the apartment for their arrival, as we had three people and two pets living with us. I’ve heard horror stories of roommate matching in other units, so I’d suggest moving in with people you know already. As for the apartment itself, it’s nice, and so are the amenities. It feels pretty safe, with security tending to the lobby after 5pm. Wifi tends to go down a lot, which is pretty inconvenient being in school and having to complete work at home. The fire alarm has gone off countless times to the point where we’re unsure of if it’s a real emergency or just a hoax. The rooftop closes at 10 PM on weeknights, and 12 AM on weekends, which makes it difficult to find a place to hang out with company sometimes. The gym is pretty nice, and it’s 24hrs. However, the few times I tried to go after 9PM, it was closed for cleaning. Visitor spots are limited and it takes some people forever to be assigned a designated parking space. The whole process is inconvenient, especially with few areas with free parking nearby. My biggest issue were gnats in the apartment in the warmer months. My roommates and I maintain a clean environment, yet the gnats are still everywhere! We let the apartment know and they didn’t do anything about the issue.

The Standard is the worst place to live. If you forget to pay rent by even 2 days, they remove your ability to pay by card. Meanwhile, the Wi-Fi barely works, the fire alarm is constantly going off, and our AC was broken for 3 days in Florida. When I said I needed to open the windows because the apartment felt suffocating, they told me I would be responsible for any humidity damage. On top of that, when you report Wi-Fi issues, they just tell you to call the provider. I would not recommend living here.

Straight up LIES and keeps things from its residents. I paid $20/month for surface parking as a resident here and still got my car TOWED from the residence, and was only told why by an honest front desk worker. The day of Gasparilla there were many cars illegally parked in the already-limited parking lot, to the point where the ONLY parking space available for me to park in was a visitor space. There are only five visitor spots during the day by the way, and four retail spots that guests can park in from 10pm-10am only. I was forced to park my car in a visitor space the night of Gasparilla, and the next day my car was completely gone. After wondering why my car would have been towed from this spot when I AM A RESIDENT AND PAY TWENTY DOLLARS A MONTH FOR SURFACE PARKING, the only honest front desk worker explained to me why. I was towed SPECIFICALLY because I had a resident decal on my car but parked in a visitor space. This girl told me that those who work the front desk are SPECIFICALLY instructed not to tell its residents that they aren’t allowed to park in visitor spaces. She told me that I should take the resident decal off of my car if I am going to park in a visitor space, because otherwise I would be towed. Once again, THE FRONT DESK IS TOLD TO WITHHOLD INFORMATION FROM THEIR GUESTS SO THAT THEIR TOWING COMPANY CAN TOW THE CARS OF THEIR RESIDENTS. Please be weary before you have to deal with a $200+ towing charge like I did. I have been telling everyone who will listen about this, and they have all told me to take legal action over this. I should be compensated for this ridiculousness, and I may reach out to attorneys to learn more about this. There is absolutely ZERO mention of this on their websites or in the lease I signed, I have taken screenshots of everywhere that this should be stated and it is simply not. Dealing with the parking here was absolute hell. Not to mention that they like to neglect their hallways and trash areas to the point where the hallways STINK of garbage and rotting food. Stay away.
