Mold. Mold. Mold. I was sick for 2 months straight. Did at home mold kits and was disgusting. Went to a doctor and they confirmed I was having upper respiratory infection due to mold exposure. Put in a mold complaint and they just came with vinegar to spray and it didn’t do anything. Couldn’t turn on my shower for over 2 months. Toilet was running for over a month. Maintenance took forever. Made my utility bill sky rocket. Thank god I showed the problem was on the Capitols end and got my money back. I would never recommend someone to live here. Only good thing was the neighbors. When I first moved in the apartment was NOT CLEANED. I am allergic to cats and there was cat hair in all the carpet. All upstairs smelled like dirty cat litter. When I brought this to the leasing office attention they said they’d send cleaners straight away. NOPE. had to go back 2 days later to urge the issue.

If you’re considering moving to this property in Tallahassee, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. My experience began on move-in day. Although the scheduled move-in date was August 15, my three roommates and I were displaced and temporarily placed in different apartments due to the property’s lack of preparation. I was not able to move into my assigned unit until September 1. Throughout this process, communication from the office staff was extremely poor, and I was often left without clear answers or updates. To make matters worse, I was initially given keys to a unit that was infested with dead roaches. I have photos documenting the condition and will include them below. Now that I have moved out, I was charged $170 for a broken closet mirror that was already damaged when I moved into the second apartment. I also have a dated photo proving the mirror was broken before I ever occupied the unit. Had management completed a thorough move-in inspection, this would have been documented. When I contacted the office to dispute the charge, they were dismissive and repeatedly told me to simply pay the fee instead of addressing the evidence I provided. Beyond the management issues, there have been shootings and frequent disruptive parties throughout the community. The security gate is also consistently nonfunctional and serves little to no purpose. Overall, this property has demonstrated poor management, inadequate communication, and a lack of accountability. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend living here. Save yourself the stress and choose another place to live.

ROACH INFESTATION: photos attached I’ve only been living at Capitol Apartments for around 5 months and the experience has already been awful. For months I went back and forth with office staff trying to get a key THEY NEVER PROVIDED when I moved in back in January. After going to the office 4 separate times and receiving 3 incorrect keys, the Community Manager finally told me the request “never made it to her table.” Staff was consistently rude and dismissive throughout the process and management seemed completely disconnected from what employees were doing. Then our apartment was broken into while me and my brother were asleep and multiple bikes/scooters were stolen directly from inside. What’s honestly unbelievable is that me and my brother ended up recovering much of the stolen property ourselves around the complex and nearby woods, including bikes, scooters, electronics, AirPods, chargers hidden separately, and even a Canon camera worth over $1,000. Some of the other scooters/electronics we found were easily worth $400–600+ and didn’t even belong to us, which makes it seem likely multiple apartments were hit. Despite the severity of the situation, management acted largely uninterested and dismissive. A community service officer responding to another nearby break-in had to be flagged down by my brother after he found stolen property outside, and even then we largely had to search the area ourselves. For a student apartment complex, the lack of urgency, communication, professionalism, and concern regarding occupied break-ins was extremely disappointing. If you’re considering living here, I’d seriously look elsewhere unless it's just for the cheap rent. Update: Since posting this review, my concerns about resident safety have only grown. Late one night, my girlfriend and I were sitting in our car at the apartment complex when multiple gunshots suddenly rang out. We immediately ducked down in the vehicle and called 911 while people ran past us trying to get away. It was one of the scariest experiences I've ever had. I understand that management cannot prevent every crime. However, after already experiencing an occupied break-in at our apartment, this incident only reinforced how unsafe living here has felt. Between the lack of urgency following our break-in, ongoing maintenance issues like the pool frequently being green, and now witnessing gunfire at the property, it's difficult to recommend this complex to anyone looking for a safe place to live. If you're considering Capitol Apartments, I strongly encourage you to weigh the low rent against the recurring safety and management concerns that I've personally experienced.
