The Retreat at Altamonte Springs

The new management is awful. They’ve come in the apartment with very short notice, close to 10 times in the last 2 months. Constantly having emergency water shut offs, they send weird emails when they’re about to send someone to do “maintenance” like “Please ensure there are no minors left unattended while our maintenance workers are inside the home”. And every time I have a complaint, the front desk just says “that’s just the industry standard, every apartment complex is like this”. I’ve also never been able to use the amenities as they have been under construction for almost a year now. And the rent is increasing, leaving the last bit of reasoning of why to move in here.

*** Updated review***** BUYER BEWARE STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!!!! New management does not allow you to utilize the space you rent. On the Townhouses you pay for a back patio, but you can not use it. The maintenance has really gone to crap with the new owners. My tub is cracked and falling in, the refrigerator can't be fully opened, there is a huge mold and mildew spot in the living room from where the water runs down the wall from the shower, and yes they have been aware of this since the day we moved in as we didn't have a shower for 3 days after move in. We were also told not to mention or complain about the mold because it's an old apartment, built in 1973. THE OTHER REVIEW WAS WRITTEN WITH THE PROMISE OF $250 OFF RENT THAT NEVER HAPPENED!!!! This community strikes the perfect balance of peace and warmth—quiet evenings where you can actually hear the kids playing outside without any chaos. The well-maintained grounds, friendly neighbors, and family-oriented vibe make it feel like a hidden gem in the city. Management and maintenance staff are very responsive.

Run. This property is extremely mismanaged. I lived in a 1 bed/1 bath where the advertised rent was $1,272, but after fees (sewer, electricity, etc.) it was closer to $1,500/month. At first things seemed fine, but issues started immediately and never stopped. My dishwasher never worked properly and repeatedly became moldy and unusable despite multiple maintenance requests. A pipe under my cabinet eventually burst while I was away, causing an active flood. I was told to call an emergency line, waited over 5 hours with no help, and had to find maintenance myself. Even after that, the damage was not properly addressed and my cabinets were left to dry rot. Service requests were consistently ignored or delayed for weeks at a time. After neighbors moved out, pest issues followed (including roaches and reports of rats in the walls), which were only addressed after significant delay. Move-out was the final issue. A scheduled inspection was cancelled without notice on the day of, and I was later told none was needed and my deposit would be processed. Despite leaving a fully empty and cleaned unit, I received only $9.03 back from a $250 deposit. I was also charged a $120 cleaning fee for an already clean unit, despite having moved in with cleanliness issues initially. This experience lacked transparency, communication, and accountability. I have documentation of all claims and will be pursuing further action. The only positives are the quiet environment and location, but they do not outweigh the management issues.
