This modern accommodation is highly praised for its newness, clean rooms, and excellent amenities like high ceilings, ceiling fans, and en-suite bathrooms shared with only a few others, making for a comfortable daily living experience. Its convenient proximity to campus, offering great views and a short walk to many key areas, is also a significant plus, though some parts of campus are still a 10-15 minute walk. While generally well-maintained, some residents have noted occasional issues with slow elevators, thin walls, and limited space for personal cooking appliances.

Compared to the other dorms on campus, this is one of the best. New Res 1 is very modern, as it was just built a few years ago, along with New Res 2. The elevators run smoothly, and the rooms are clean. There isn't much that is broken or needs repairing. The shower is our suite is a little weak, and the toilet leaks a little from the handle when you flush it (we have since gotten this fixed), and that's about all the issues we have had so far. Worth noting, though, is that our suitemates did need to have someone come repair their ceiling fan, as it was really loud. Our fan was quite, and circulated a good amount of air. In the dorm, you get a limited supply of toilet paper, a dresser, an office chair, a bed frame, a mattress, a really long shower curtain, and a basic desk with a short, deep, long, drawer. Pretty much everything else the students have to provide. Some of the perks of this dorm is the view, the closer proximity to the campus, and the newness of the building. Our view is AMAZING. From our window, we got lucky enough to get a nice view of the volleyball and basketball courts, as well as the fire pit. My roommate and I are always looking outside and seeing the fun things our peers are up to. Although it is still a 10-15 minute walk to other parts of the campus, this is one of the closest buildings to the main areas. I have found it is about 15-20 minutes to the M building, and 10-15 minutes from Lehman, COAS, and the Student Union. It is about a 3 minute walk to Boundless. Overall, this is a fantastic dorm, with very little issues. If you can afford the extra cost (as it is one of the most expensive form options) it is completely worth it. I couldn't be happier with it!

NR1 is a newer building. The facilities are pretty nice, but the walls are incredibly thin, and stuff breaks very often. The elevators are never working and the stairs are never clean and are too gross to use. Despite this, the common areas are incredible. It’s really up to the individual if it’s right for them
