Ana was so so sweet and relieved me of my worries! She was very descriptive with her answers and made the moving in worries much easier. Thank you Ana :)

Complicated housing system. It's difficult to find an accommodation for short term. No guest house facility from the University. Whatever available is too expensive.

We put a $200 deposit in Fall 2023 because my daughter was planning to attend but at the last minute she changed her mind. She just got a collection letter for $1800 for cancellation fees for USF housing. She never attended the school. How do I get out of this? It's ridiculous to charge a student $1800 when the school new full well she was not attending. And a YEAR later!!! Thanks for any info.

I am absolutely disgusted with how they essentially force students who only need fall housing to pay half the cost for the spring semester unless they entirely cancel their housing contract beforehand. Was my brother supposed to be homeless for the fall semester to avoid your ridiculous spring semester charge? Why don’t you simply offer a fall semester only housing contract? I imagine you won’t even consider implementing that because you wouldn’t be able to scam your students out of a few thousand dollars otherwise and I imagine you’re a broke institution to be doing something to slimy. This is a disgusting practice for a university that is supposed to be about guiding and helping young people. Don’t sign a housing contract with them unless you’re absolutely positive you need housing with them for the whole year otherwise they WILL take way more of your money than they need and they’ll do it with a smile on their face. I’m grateful I never went to this school but I’m very upset for my brother who now has to figure out how to pay off a few thousand dollars in less than two months because of course while they do offer payment plans they won’t allow him to enroll in any classes until it’s completely paid off. And on top of that of course they waited until after the spring semester was over to let us know that any extra payment was needed to give us little to no time to prepare and come up with the money. So now not only are you scamming my family out of money you certainly already have and don’t need because you didn’t give us any other option for housing but you are also trying to delay my brothers education until he pays you in full. My poor brother has no choice but to try to take out a loan because of how these crooks choose to handle their housing contracts. Despicable practices from an institution of this caliber. Do better.

So it’s my understanding that a student that started the fall semester in august of 2022 had to let the housing know they wouldn’t be attending in the spring semester in the same month or they have to pay half of the spring cost for housing. That is shady and forces a student to pay almost another $2000 for no reason as the campus didn’t have enough rooms for the students anyway so I’m sure was easily replaced. The student did appeal but they only give you 42 words to explain your reasoning and of course they deny it. Stop extorting parents and young freshmen. Very disappointed in the actions of this school.
