Students generally praise the helpful and friendly staff, particularly highlighting individuals like Carla and Donovan for their excellent customer service and community engagement through fun events. However, many residents frequently report significant issues with apartment cleanliness upon move-in, recurring pest problems, and outdated or poorly maintained appliances. Additionally, there are consistent complaints about unreliable internet service, unfair move-out charges for pre-existing damages, and a frustrating parking situation with frequent booting incidents.

Hideaway Gainesville is a bad place to live at. The horrible part of it is when they start charging you when you move out. When you first move in you enter a dirty apartment that you have to clean yourself. The oven is so dirty you don’t even use it and the laundry rooms have years of buildup on the machines. Then they have the audacity to take pictures of it and charge YOU as a “ cleaning fee” but I promise you they never clean it even after they get the payment and the next tenant is going to have to deal with it. It’s an endless cycle to get money from you. Also charging me for the metal air vent that they don’t replace and making it seem like the years of rust is my roommates and I’s doing. They expect you to deep clean every single crevice of the entire apartment before you move out when they wouldn’t even do that for new tenants.Take it from a recently graduated student that lived there for two years. Avoid this place if you want to save money. They also charge a bizarre amount. In a 2x2 apartment they’re charging 75 PER person for the supposed cleaning fee when all they have to do is wipe the mirror…. If you move in I recommend you tarp up the entire place and walk lightly. This is how we received the apartment. I’m sure they used the last tenants “ cleaning fee”. There’s much more

Lived at hideaway for 1 year, not a good experience. Upon move-in there were a multitude of damages which I reported in the move-in inspection. None of which they fixed without me putting in individual maintenance requests. At move-out, they try to charge me for these very damages which were pre-existing. Cockroaches were horrible and frequent. Pest control requests were futile. Staff was nice from my experience. Gym was lackluster. Pool and basketball court were nice. The trees can ruin your car if you don't get frequent washes. Study area is in the same space as the pool table which makes no sense. If you're going to the study area to focus, you may have to deal with people being loud playing. (Can't even blame the people who were playing, it's just horrible design). They would have events in which they gave away snacks and treats (which is a good idea) but would run out quick so you'd have to get there early for a chance. It is "gated" but the gate is consistently broken. Probably because it opens inwards (yet another instance of bad design). Maintenance team was helpful at times. Overall, would not recommend.

I would not recommend living here. From the day I moved in, the apartment was not clean or move-in ready. I found mold inside the toilet, mold on the bathroom ceiling, dirty walls, a shower that clearly hadn't been properly cleaned, old and worn appliances, and furniture that was already scraped, damaged, and heavily used. There was no getting out of the lease, so I had to accept the apartment and did my best to take care of it during my lease. When I moved out, I spent a significant amount of time cleaning the unit. I was shocked to receive hundreds of dollars in cleaning charges for things like light dust, fingerprints, and a toilet stain that would not come off (it was already there before I even moved in). Based on the inspection photos they provided, it appears I was charged for what should have been routine turnover cleaning rather than excessive damage or neglect. I believe I left the apartment in better condition than I received it. My biggest disappointment, however, was the management. I had a roommate who repeatedly violated the lease, and despite reporting the issues to the office multiple times, little to nothing was done. It felt like management expected residents to resolve serious roommate issues on their own instead of enforcing the lease or addressing repeated complaints. Additionally, I was consistently sick throughout my time living here. The mold was so bad. Every time I reported mold in my apartment they would either paint right over the spot that it was growing in or they would say there wasn’t any mold. It was very detrimental to my health. Overall, I felt that management was quick to charge tenants at move-out but unwilling to address legitimate concerns during the lease. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this property to anyone looking for a well-managed apartment community. Save your time and money and go somewhere, PLEASE!

The place is just like any other, which is fine. But management is awful. They are very rude and unresponsive to you most of the time (except when they are trying to convince you to sign in with them). But the worst is when you are leaving. They will charge unreasonable amounts for "cleaning and damages" when things are barely visible in the picture they send you as proof. They charged me 150 USD for such stupid things that I am sure were there before I came in. If you happened to sign in with them already make sure you take pictures of every single spot or damage that you see and report it. I have lived in multiple places in GNV and none were as bad as this.

If I could give a 0 star review I would. TLDR: Do not live here. Management will take your money while providing poor service. See photos attached. —————————————————————— My roommates and I moved into an apartment that was dusty and dirty. We spent multiple days mopping and cleaning because the floors were so filthy that walking barefoot left our feet black. Management also repeatedly denied my ESA documentation for both my dog and my cat, claiming the letters were incomplete, inaccurate, or that my pets’ medical records were insufficient. My animals were adopted years apart, so the letters came from different providers. Management even told me that “An ESA letter functions much like a prescription in that consistency is key.” despite the fact that each letter independently met the necessary requirements. I also submitted numerous maintenance requests because my shower floor was peeling apart, leaving sharp edges that were a safety hazard. Instead of fixing it, I was told over the phone that they had a budget and would not replace it unless it became worse. After moving out to a different apartment—which accepted my ESA letters immediately without any issues—I received a $250 move-out bill. While I understand reasonable cleaning charges, many of these fees were excessive and unreasonable. I was charged $45 because the carpet fibers were not all facing the same direction, essentially because I hadn’t vacuumed immediately before moving out. I was also charged $110 for shower cleaning, which included things like water spots on the faucet, dust around the toilet, dust in the medicine cabinet, dust in a drawer, and wiping down the shower shelf. Some of the issues, including paint spots, were already present when I moved in. If management expects tenants to leave the apartment cleaner than it was when they received it, that says a lot about the condition new residents are moving into. It feels like they expect outgoing tenants to do the deep cleaning that should be done between leases. To make matters worse, one of my roommates had their car broken into while living here. Management offered no meaningful assistance in obtaining camera footage or addressing security concerns afterward. They even charged a fee to replace the gate card that had been stolen during the break-in. Overall, the management, maintenance, and move-out practices are not worth the amount you pay to live here. There are far better apartments in the area with management teams that treat residents fairly and actually care about their tenants. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
