At your new student housing, there are countless ways to spend your weekends. Catch a new exhibition at the Krannert Art Museum, where the collections focus on artworks from Africa and the Americas. Spend lazy summer days fishing from the pier or playing volleyball by the water in Crystal Lake Park, before trying out the slides at the Family Aquatic Center. On game day, cheer for the Fighting Illini basketball team at the State Farm Center, then head out to your favorite local restaurant. Whether you choose an apartment with one, two or four bedrooms, you can walk to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in just 10 minutes. Wake up in your private bedroom, choose an outfit from the dresser, then grab your books from your desk on the way out the door. If you’ve got time before lectures for a coffee shop study session, try Flying Machine Coffee for free Wi-Fi and an artisan brew. With a bus stop on-site, exploring on weekends couldn’t be easier.
When you get home, ride the elevator up to your fully-furnished apartment. Head to the kitchen to make a snack, then collapse on the living room couch in front of your cable TV. Use the free internet to research your assignments whenever you’re ready, or make use of one of the dedicated study rooms instead. When you’re done, let off steam with a fitness center workout, before taking a dip in the heated pool.
Later, throw your laundry in the washer dryer and run yourself a hot bath. Head up to the rooftop to watch the big game on the outdoor TV, or for a gossip with friends around one of the firepits. Switch on the grills for dinner, then retreat to the clubhouse for a few games on the Xbox. With a football table, a theater room and a 90” entertainment wall, there’s plenty to keep you busy - but if you’re keen for a change of scene, get tickets to an exciting new play at The Station Theater or a cult classic movie at The Art Theater.
