Whether you choose a private apartment or one shared with a friend, living at Sans Souci means being able to walk to classes at the University of Michigan in under 10 minutes. If you’re not planning on keeping a car in the on-site parking facility, use the bus stop across the street to explore the rest of the city on weekends. For a change of scene, head to Nichols Arboretum for picnics by the River Huron in summer, or for snowball fights in winter.
When you get home, set your air conditioning to the perfect temperature, before grabbing a snack from the fridge and kicking back in your spacious living room. When the weather gets colder, crank up the heating instead – with gas, heating and water all included in your rent, you don’t need to worry about unexpected bills. Later, retreat to your bedroom to finish your assignments, or to log onto the high-speed internet and Skype home.
If you feel like a workout, call up your friends and head over the road to Allmendinger Park. Spend an hour or two shooting hoops on the basketball courts or practicing your tennis serve, before coming home for a long, hot shower. Use your apartment’s washer dryer to do your laundry, then look up a recipe online and head through to the kitchen. When you’re finished with dinner, let the dishwasher clean your plates while you get ready for a night out. Catch a play at the Performance Network Theatre, or an arthouse movie at the Michigan Theater.
