Bangor is a close knit university town, and it’s one that will provide you with community and support while you’re here. It’s a place you’ll come to study, and leave with a family. Take advantage of being by the water’s edge and next to the mountains. Sail in the morning and go mountain climbing in the afternoon. Bangor is a small town, but it’s still a cosmopolitan place crammed with awesome bars, a variety of restaurants, live music, and art galleries. If you’re craving the bright city lights, six trains run direct from Bangor to London Euston, and you can be in the busy northern cities of Liverpool and Manchester (with their clubs, world class shopping, and fabulous galleries) in less than an hour and a half.
Although 50% of the town speaks Welsh, don’t worry! Everyone here is welcoming and speaks great English too so you’ll have no problem getting by. And who knows, you might even pick up a few Welsh words to impress friends back home! There are over 10,000 students in Bangor so you won’t have to walk far before you stumble upon a favourite haunt or some fun event run by your classmates. Going to Bangor will give you the best of both worlds: a small university town which offers big possibilities.
