Liverpool City Centre
Make a home for yourself in the heart of this friendly city, rich in cultural history and bursting with shops and bars
Get your bearings in the city centre using the stunning Edwardian buildings of Pier Head that mark the waterfront. The copper liver birds sitting on top of the Royal Liver Building will help you navigate as you explore. Start your day with a satisfying breakfast at Moose Coffee, in the thick of the commercial district. Grab a coffee to sip as you walk to Liverpool John Moores University or hop on a bus for a short ride to the University of Liverpool or Liverpool Hope University.
When you’re not in class make the most of living in the first city in England to have been named European Capital of Culture, in 2008. Admire modernist art works of Picasso and Klimt at the Tate Liverpool or check out a new band at The Bluecoat art centre. Explore the industrial grandeur of the Albert Docks and bask in the city’s famous waterfront. After you’ve had your fix of culture and refueled at one of the city’s trendy cafes, it could well be time to hit the shops.
You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to browsing as the city offers world-class shopping, you’ll find high street stores and shopping centres alongside boutique arcades and designer fashion outlets. Dream about designer shoes in the Met Quarter in Whitechapel then see if any local fashion talent takes your fancy as you nip in and out of the stores in Cavern Walks.
Fill your evenings chatting with friends in the local bars and restaurants, you can pretty much try a new place every week. Sit by the River Mersey on warm nights, or listen to live music. Who knows, you might find yourself watching the next big thing in the city that gave the world The Beatles.
