From your new home at Ilam Apartments, you can walk to classes at the University of Canterbury in less than 10 minutes. When you want a change of scene, use the buses that stop on nearby Ilam Road to explore off campus, or make the most of the property’s safe storage facility and invest in a bike. Cycle to the iconic Cardboard Cathedral in 25 minutes and admire its colourful stained glass windows, or meet New Zealand’s famous kiwis at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve.
Living on campus means it’ll be easy for you to head home between lectures. Make something tasty for lunch in your fully furnished apartment’s kitchen, then spread your books out on your bedroom desk and study for an afternoon exam in peace. After class, catch up with your housemates in your shared lounge, then use the computers in the 24-hour study room to research for your assignments.
When you’re finished, grab your workout clothes from the on-site laundry facilities and take a stroll to the UC RecCentre. Take part in a group fitness session, get to the top of the rock climbing wall or work up a sweat on the squash courts. Afterwards, return home and freshen up with a quick shower, then head to the common room to catch up on your favourite Sky TV shows or practice your skills on the ping pong table.
Later, sit down for dinner in the University Hall dining room, or walk 15 minutes to the local New World supermarket to stock up on ingredients, and spend the evening grilling with friends in the outdoor BBQ area.
