With the University of Chicago just 15 minutes away by bus, The Algonquin couldn’t be more convenient for getting to class. Roll out of bed, freshen up with a shower in your bathroom, then rifle through your closet for something to wear. On game day, head onto campus to cheer for the basketball team at the Gerald Ratner Athletic Center, or to experience a football showdown at Stagg Field.
Keep a bike in the indoor storage facility for exploring close to home, or use the bus stop across the street to get around town. On Thursdays, stock up on fresh organic produce at the local Hyde Park Farmers’ Market. Ride the elevator up to your apartment, then head through to the kitchen and dump your bags on the granite counter. Spend a moment putting your groceries away and preparing a tasty snack, before taking your plate through to the living area and curling up with a good book on the couch.
Later, don your sneakers and head to the fitness center for a session on the treadmill. Check for post at the pigeonholes in reception on your way back upstairs, then gather your washing for a trip to the on-site laundry room. While you wait, swap stories with your friends around the laundry room table, before inviting them over for dinner. Entertaining couldn’t be easier with a dishwasher to take care of the cleaning up, but if you don’t feel like cooking you can head out for a roast dinner at Valois restaurant instead.
