Home to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor is an archetypal US college city and the small but vibrant downtown area is a real treat with its eclectic mix of shops and places to eat and drink outdoors.
Soak up the unique charm of Tree Town, as it’s known, where the beautiful streets and picturesque parks are home to over 50,000 trees. Explore Main Street and you’ll find independent cafés and foodie meccas like Babo Market. Explore a little further and the delights of historic Kerrytown are just a couple of blocks away. There’s a whimsical feel too, keep your eye out for the quaint ‘fairy doors’ of Ann Arbor - a handful of magical art installations dotted around downtown.
Enjoy entertaining street festivals like the award-winning art fair and blow off a little steam at The Ark and The Blind Pig, two of downtown’s best live music venues. You’ll also be spoilt for choice when it comes to eating. Considering its size, Ann Arbor has an incredibly diverse restaurant scene with around 200 eateries serving foods from all over the world.
You’ll have access to all that UM has to offer. Step back in time at the Museum of Natural History and the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology. Indulge your creative mind in the Museum of Art, hang out in the splendid surroundings of the Law Quadrangle and sample the buzzing student atmosphere at the Diag - all on campus and all for free.
