Live beside international restaurants and spectacular music venues in Chamartín, one of Madrid’s most exciting areas
Wake up at the weekend in Madrid’s Chamartín and amble down to one of the many green spaces nearby, enjoying the quiet that comes from being in the financial district out of hours. Wander to the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales to marvel over dinosaur fossils and learn about human evolution.
When hunger strikes, stop off at one of the diverse, international eateries around. In this multicultural neighbourhood, there is always exciting cuisine to try and someone interesting to meet. Sample spaghetti carbonara at casual Italian haunt Equilibrium, or sit down for some freshly made maki at Ikura Sushi, dining out on the terrace when the weather is warm.
In the afternoon, head down to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, Chamartín’s most iconic landmark, and see the world-famous Real Madrid football team take on their latest rivals. If you’re not lucky enough to secure a ticket, you can still soak up the match day atmosphere as you stroll past and take in the roar of the crowd from outside.
When evening comes, Chamartín’s rich culture will keep you busy. Get tickets for a recital at Auditorio Nacional De Música and enjoy a concert in either the Symphonic or Chamber hall, taking in the music of the National Orchestra or National Choir. Practise your language skills by booking tickets to see a play or a comedy show with friends at the unique Teatro Prosperidad. End the night with a game of pool and a few cold beers at La Mansión, where you may even join in with some impromptu dancing.
