Meet friends on King Street in Newtown and feast on noodles together at Thai Pothong, watch an independent film at Dendy Newtown, or spend an evening hopping from a pub quiz at The Golden Barley Hotel to a loud gig at Newtown Social.

Head west to Petersham and Stanmore to retreat from the buzzing Newtown crowd for a quiet brunch. You’ll find plenty of cafés, like Big Brekky, serving up incredible eggs and coffee to power you through the weekend.

With breakfast under your belt, browse for vintage fashion at Cream on King, then take a tour of the area’s art spaces. Start with contemporary art at Plump Gallery and move on to Beehive Gallery, where you can buy some crafty bits for your room.
