Cytomegalovirus (CVS)

Cytomegalovirus is a virus that is related to the herpes family of virus, and the most common virus found in humans; in fact it is so common that if tested most of the world's population would show up as having it. Cytomegalovirus is also an airborne virus that can be spread via sexual contact, coughing, sneezing, kissing, blood, organ transplant.

Who's at risk?

Well everyone is at risk if you can call it a risk, because there are almost never any signs or symptoms it goes unnoticed in most people, people with HIV are more at risk because of the lower immune system. If symptoms occur then they include fever, sore throat, diarrhoea and nausea. May cause other major problem like blindness though rare.

Pregnancy women can pass it to unborn babies and they are at risk of miscarriage or birth defects if it is early in a pregnancy.

Unless it is causing major problems then it is never treated, but can be treated by antibiotics.
