Philly99100
: Bad people take what they want and Good people try to make the world a better place by putting more out there
Pikes
: Its a test for humanity
MournForMe
: its the way of the world twisted and murky, though there are times when good people get what they deserve as well as for the bad people...
SBG_Writer9289
: Human nature is a bitch
how would you explain the undeniable correlation between the declining number of pirates in the world since 1800 and the rise in global mean temperature?
(9 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: Great question.
boxocereal
: LOL...I like jmasterson's answer.
djhowty
: no correlation at all.
jmasterson
: Technology, some of which has contributed to global warming, has been increasing along with the global mean temperature. This technology, such as radar, instant communication, and aircraft, has made piracy way less profitable than it used to be, and its way easier to catch any would be pirates. :)
SBG_Writer9289
: If I could I would but right now I can't
Is there such a thing as civilized and barbaric cultures or is it all just perspective?
(7 answers)
UnknownMisfit01

do you normally side more with unions or business leaders in strikes?
(9 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: I don't side with anyone usually.
boxocereal
: I agree with Canadian_Wolfhound.
being
: depends
Soca
: I love unicorns =]
djhowty
: unions, although they are screwing up the economy.
josh45
: whichever one bennefits me. I generally find strikers to be annoying though.
gayguyinsussex
: depends on the strike
Canadian_Wolfhound
: Genrally I side with Neither, Buisness leaders are known for trying to get the best bang for thier buck and of course in our market economy they can do so. Yet Unions i have found to just be the other side of the line everyone wants everything for nothing sort of deal. I havent been in many unions but what I have been in and exposed to it seems that none have been able to reach a Happy medium. Who's side of the line that blame lies on, I dont know. So I side with common sence and peoples good will and word. Some of the most cruital tools to surviving in the world, maybe not today, but in the future these skills will be invaluble. I think more people should adopt a more positive and ethical mind set if they did, of course said in cliche, the world would be a better place :D
Is there an objective good in the world or is it all open to interpritation?
(4 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: Great question.
boxocereal
: I'm not sure..hmm..
Canadian_Wolfhound
: I beleive in the categorical Imperitive. - Closest I've come to agreeing with a Theory of Good. If something that you do could/would be able to be a universal law without then it would fall under the parameters of esentially being good - could be explained better but theres my answer

UnknownMisfit01
: I know that voting is important and what not, but I'm always at work usually, so I could really at the end of the day care less who wins an election or not.
boxocereal
: I have the same answer as PRIMO. I don't really care for anybody running.
BlackRaven_
: The most important issue is definitely the war of terror, which is why I would have voted for McCain if I was only enough to vote in this election.
josh45
: Charisma, because yes we can!
gayguyinsussex
: the war on terror, go john mac cain/rudy!!
PanicPinkMonkey
: and the war retraction
PanicPinkMonkey

: I'm sure it does.
deww
: yes
being
: no
Soca
: I'm sure mine does.
djhowty
: beyond procreation and the continuation of the human race, no.
Pikes
: Yes, for some that meaning is hidden other already have it, just for some people takes a little longer to realise what that meaning is!
josh45
: Sure
Dolphin_Princess
: Yes. Depends on who you're living it for!!
puppet_show
: If it does, please inform me what it is
Miranda9494
: life has a meaning bcuz supposivly god created us to run the earth and if we dont do it right then he takes yur life away
boxocereal
: I hope so.
PanicPinkMonkey
: mine does! Does Yours?
Angel2Devil2Friend
: Yes
PRIMO
: Sure. it can mean whatever you want it to.

: Live and then die and be reborn again.

(21 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: Who knows.
Cappucino
: Nothing basic about it.
being
: neither
deww
: good, every people have good side though the're devil
SBG_Writer9289
: Born good, in the wrong enviornment they can grow up evil
josh45
: We always have a choice.
Dolphin_Princess
: Generally evil. It's when they conquer the base evil that they become ever so slightly good.
boxocereal
: I think mostly good.
PanicPinkMonkey
: a basic mesh of both
Angel2Devil2Friend
: They are good until something makes them evil
PRIMO
: Both. Its mostly a perspective.
SBG_Writer9289
: everyone is born good but they can either become evil via their parents, the media, or their own hand.
Is government truly a contract between the governed or is it really just imposed by a ruling force?
(13 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: Great question.
boxocereal
: What Soulbadguy said.
darkirish731
: ugh, it didn't let me finish...However, I'm not entirely sure that this can be entirely black or white. As with most things in life, there are many shades of gray.
darkirish731
: Supposedly. However, Im not entirely sure that this can be
LongLiveTheLoud
: The latter, and it disguises itself as the former. Especially our government.
Angel2Devil2Friend
: Depends
cuteteendiaper
: if you want an example of a place with no government, just look at countries such as African countries
Soulbadguy
: i see it as this. people need rules the government enforces the rules. its mostly for the greater good
Can anyone get ahead through hard work, or do some people have no opportunity for advancement?
(12 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: I guess it depends on everyone's situation.
Cappucino
: There are always opportunities
dcjl7468
: That depends on the social mobility of the society in question.
josh45
: I'm not one to say that anything is possible if you put your mind to it, but you can do a great deal. I mean a person with no legs probably won't be winning gold medals for swimming, but I beleive there are always opportunities for people to exploit their strengths. Its harder for some than others.
Dolphin_Princess
: I believe that when somebody works hard, they create an opportunity for themselves.
Angel2Devil2Friend
: I believe everyone can get ahead through hard work. Some people are unable to put the effort into hard work
cuteteendiaper
: unfortunately, advancements are mandatory to companies. they have to promote their employees after x years... :(
phig
: Anyone who knows their strengths can get ahead through hard work. Even if you're dumb as a post, there's a job out there that you're gonna be damn good at.
boxocereal
: Hard work is too much for some people.
should government constantly change to fit the times or are systems well established best left untouched?
(11 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: What boxocereal said.
boxocereal
: I think it needs to change to fit the times.
being
: government always remains the same, just appears different.
dcjl7468
: Times change a government, not the other way round.
josh45
: There needs to be some stability for a prosperous nation. Other than that, I'm not comfortable making a blanket statement.
Angel2Devil2Friend
: Goverment should constantly change to fit the times
phig
: If we take it for granted that governments change for the better in the long run, then an untouched government implies an ideal government. And I've certainly never seen an ideal government. Bring on the change!
Do the needs of the many outweigh the rights of the few?
(11 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: What boxocereal said.
boxocereal
: Sometimes I guess.
josh45
: Sometimes. But sometimes not.
PanicPinkMonkey
: depends on teh situation really
Angel2Devil2Friend
: That same that that's the ay it is
springbreaker
: Not if you're the many, and i'm one of the few :) And esp not if we are talking USA Nat'l Security - i'd really rather not be deported to Syria and tortured for a year or two... :) lol
PRIMO
: usually
What is it that makes someone truly heroic?
(11 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: The strength of someone's heart.
boxocereal
: Helping someone and not thinking twice about putting yourself in danger I guess.
Soca
: Doing somethign they believe in that involves no personal gain.
Pikes
: Many things can make a person truly heroic in the eyes of others!
josh45
: putting their life on the line for another.
Dolphin_Princess
: Anything selfless, even like a mother giving birth to a baby regardless of what may happen to her.
puppet_show
: A sexy outfit
Angel2Devil2Friend
: When someone does something and they dont execpt anything in return
PRIMO
: something un selfish
Is it better to love someone that you cant be with, or to be with someone you dont love?
(18 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: Neither.
Cappucino
: Better to have loved and lost, than to have never have loved at all.
dcjl7468
: Love someone you can't be with, although that in itself is inadvisable.
friendsaretheworldtome
: Neither wait for the right person where you can love the person and live with them but at the same time be loved back.
josh45
: love someone you can't be with. I really wouldn't want to be stuck with someone I don't like.
Dolphin_Princess
: Ugh, I've been there done both. The latter is just purely frustrating so I go with the former. >.<
Miranda9494
: it is okay to love someone you cant be with but not some one that you dont love because i dont think that is rite because your heart will hurt and that dont feel cool
Angel2Devil2Friend
: Neither is better, both options bring heart ache
Thelightisnthere
: Love someone you cant be with. Because the feeling that u love someone and they love you back is all that matters. you shouldnt be with someone and be miserable. <3
boxocereal
: Love someone you can't be with but that would be soooo hard!
Zyto95487
: I think it is better to love someone you can't be with because love is a wonderful thing to feel, and if the love is strong enough to last until you can be together, then it will be more than worth it when you can.
PRIMO
: Love someone you can't be with.
what is it that makes a work of literature "great"?
(15 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: What the 1st person who answered this question said.
boxocereal
: I like phiq's answer.
being
: rising above the literary constraints of time
djhowty
: timelessness . . . and pretty much what phig said.
josh45
: brevity.
SBG_Writer9289
: Originality and an open mind
Zyto95487
: to me, I consider a work of literature "great" if I come out of reading it with either a changed view on something, a better understanding of something, or in some way changed by it. I think there are MANY really good books out there that should be read for fun, but I think "great" literature is a very difficult niche to fit into, and only those books that affect people on a very deep level can be considered for it.
PRIMO
: What phig said.
phig
: Timeslessness, quality of the writing, accessibility to a broad audience.
what is your favorite Shakespearean play? (if youve never read one get off the computer and do it right now!)
(23 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: What boxocereal said.
boxocereal
: None.
being
: richard the third is by far my favorite
djhowty
: richard III, hands down.
Jordan_Taylor88
: Romeo & Juliet
josh45
: pass
PanicPinkMonkey
: Hamlet the "many faces of eve" keeps it mysterious
SBG_Writer9289
: A Midsummer Night's Dream
gayguyinsussex
: cant be ****ed, i hate shakespeare
Zyto95487
: I really enjoyed Macbeth and Hamlet, but I think I have to go with Romeo and Juliet. I'm a hopeless romantic, and to me, there is nothing more romantic than the ending of that play, in a very tragic way.
PRIMO
: None
Rivergem
: Othello, baby!
phig
: Gonna have to go with Hamlet on this one.
lifexisxpain
: i'm reading romeo and juliet sometime this year...i can't wait!
are you religious, spiritual or neither?
(36 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: Never put much thought into it.
deww

being

puppet_show
: Helll now
FC3S_Kelvin
: some-what religious
SBG_Writer9289
: Spiritual
Angel2Devil2Friend
: Spirtual
Zyto95487
: neither really. I can fully understand and respect people who believe there is something out there, and at times I feel the same, but not often enough to consider myself spiritual. I'm more....... connected. I feel a connection to everyone, and I believe that everyone, whether we know it or not, have a connection as humans and that we need to look after each other's well being and best interest.
PRIMO
: religious and spiritual are the same to me, so neither.
lifexisxpain
: neither
puppet_show
: I'm neither. I like to live my own life with my own rules. Theres no way I'ma listen to some book that was written like years ago by peeps and not god himself.
boxocereal
: Neither.
silent_breath
: neither
josh45
: religious

what is easier for you, naming fictional American presidents or real foreign leaders?
(20 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: What boxocereal said.
boxocereal
: Fictional presidents?
djhowty
: i don't know any fictional presidents, so real foreign leaders it is. yay!
josh45
: um. foreign leaders I guess.
gayguyinsussex
: foreign leaders, i dont know any fictional presidents
silent_breath
: real foreign leaders
josh45
: real foreign leaders I guess
zYTo95487
: I could do either one fairly easily, but I think I know more real foreign leaders, both current and past.
Lifeguardude
: Real foreign leaders, I don't know any fictional presidents, but then again I don't read any political fiction books anyway
lifexisxpain
: probably naming presidents
who is your favorite American president and why?
(15 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: Don't have one.
boxocereal
: Probably Lincoln.
djhowty
: FDR. And the remark about Woodrow Wilson was dead wrong—the 14 points were for the League of Nations. Jesus, people, know your history!! And Reagan was a fan of BIG government, not small government. What are history teachers teaching you people these days? Okay, that's the end of my rant.
luvya15
: Reagan because of his candid humor and his belief in smaller gov't
puppet_show
: Bill Clinton cause he LOVED BLACK PEOPLE!!! GO BILL!!!
josh45
: Lincoln. He held the nation together, ended slavery. He truly executed the oath he took when he came into office.
zYTo95487
: I really like Woodrow Wilson, because while he couldn't sign ther treaty of peace after World War I because of them, his 14 points were the basis for the UN, an orginization that does good (and some bad) stuff for everyone.
lifexisxpain
: i don't have one
what is the purpose of government?
(19 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: What boxocereal said.
boxocereal
: Control!
being
: to protect our lives
dcjl7468
: To exercise influence and control through law and coercion, over a particular group of people, formed into a state.
djhowty
: to maintain order and security and to protect the rights of a collective group of people.
PanicPinkMonkey
: to piss us off while keeping us safer than we would be without some of the things they provide
brian69
: im not sure by any means....ive trusted the government, and it seems their almost always wrong, lieing or worried about the intrests of someone with more money than me. *shrugs* F*ck em'
josh45
: to protect the lives and liberties of the people laid down in the Constitution and to otherwise stay the hell out of everyone's way.
zYTo95487
: To provide rules to better the lives of the individual. a lot of times that gets distorted though
FallNFlames
: to maintain safety and crap like that. kinda works and it kinda backfires on them
Soulbadguy
: to help every maintain a good life. it doesnt work
lifexisxpain
: good question
do you belive in rock & roll, can music save your mortal soul?
(13 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: Sure.
boxocereal
: I don't think so.
being
: rock sold out
josh45
: I dunno
zYTo95487
: I believe Rock and Roll can save your soul to the extent that it cheers people up and helps them trough hard times and prevents them from doing things they otherwise would have done
lifexisxpain
: i don't think it's gonna save your mortal soul
GreenTurtle
: it might not save your mortal soul, but it sure makes life a little more tolerable...
PRIMO
: no

josh45
: I sort of had a thing for Ewan Mcgreggor. It wasn't really a romantic crush. I was going through somewhat of a rough time and saw him as somewhat of a role model at the time. I still like watching him in movies but I'm not like as obcessed with him as I used to be.
zYTo95487
: oh yes, many a time
FallNFlames
: obviously not me, lifexisxpain

(24 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: Oh and I'm not sure why I'm not sure.
UnknownMisfit01
: I'm not sure.
boxocereal
: I agree with End_of_Eternity.
Pikes
: Nope
josh45
: in self defence and some other situations, yes.
zYTo95487
: I think in instances where inflicting pain on someone is the only way to stop them from hurting others, it's ok. otherwise no
lifexisxpain
: it depends on what the situation is
GreenTurtle
: no.. pain is something that life throws at us.. it may make us stronger, but it sure as hell hurts us
bi_boi1393
: no way
mAy_dream2216
: depends...there is self defence and then there is torture
jessicafied
: no
HazelEyes123
: ummmm
End_of_Eternity
: It depends on why you're doing it. If it's out of self-defense then it's okay, but not if you're doing it just because it's fun and/or you're bored.
CaptainAmazin
: No, but there have to be exceptions to every rule.
PRIMO
: Morals vary so it depends.
do you think that man can ever really know the will of god?
(23 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: Maybe once Judgement Day comes.
boxocereal
: Who?
being
: god is dead
Soca
: When he comes down and smites thy
SBG_Writer9289
: no.
brian69
: no. its an excuse people use to get things they want. for example hitler said it was the will of god that the jews die. also, i believe that god or whatever we call god, in all actuallity, may not even be paying attention to us. mankind is concieted.....*totally not what you asked* -.-
josh45
: depends.
zYTo95487
: I believe that "God", as he exists, can never be fully understood, therefore neither can his will
lifexisxpain
: no
GreenTurtle
: nope
oowilawila
: No
lilwizkid
: no god is god
CaptainAmazin
: Even assuming that God exists, which is frankly ludicrous, that is an impossible idea to comprehend.
PRIMO
: 'gods" do not exist.
Why?
(27 answers)
UnknownMisfit01
: Why not? Take a crazy chance.
boxocereal
: Because!
Soca
: Because you said so <3
djhowty
