I may not believe in God, but that doesn't change the fact that religion is a very powerful force in today's society. It makes sense to try to understand it better even if you don't personally follow it.  Dinhy: I don't know <(~_~)>  Rivergem: Because they like to discuss and debate the subject, to find out more about other religions, to make an informed choice about their beliefs. It's pretty much entirely based on faith.  Rivergem: I can't say I know of any experiments or tests that support creationism at all.  Manderz90: I dunno if there is any... This is just one example.  Rivergem: Fossil records... Speciation experiments in laboratories... Catholicism is Christianity... it's just a branch of it.  What do YOU believe is the greatest cause of Atheism in the world today? (16 answers)  boxocereal: I don't care.  punk4ever: I think the biggest factor is the extensive research that has solidified Evolutionary Biology to more than just a theory. I think another factor may be the courtship of churches with national governments. Church is supposed to be a sacred, private affair, and churches are taking that away from people by getting involved in politics.  Rivergem: More and more scientific dicoveries that conflict with religious teachings are making people question the validity of the Bible and other religious texts. This has been going on since the Renaissance. I also think that the decrease of the Church in western society has made people feel freer to believe or disbelieve in certain things.  Manderz90: What they teach is science class might help to lead them the wrong way  amecuervo: cause? choice, which might I add your God created  Georgeuk: why can't people be atheist?  cheer_up_emo_kid: atheism really doesn't exist. to say you don't believe in God means you once did and therefore they're not atheists just theists.. those who know theres a God but just deny him  Newvamp: Religion makes no sense  crizty: because I personally think religion has no sense.
