I heard on the radio that Facebook contributes to about 50% of divorces now. Do you think that it should truly be considered a factor, or is the true meaning of marriage just fading away? What do you think? (15 answers)

 UnknownMisfit01: I think that's kinda crazy. I don't see how it could.
TrueTexanZack: I think the true definition of marriage has been lost over the years. I think facebook overall isn't responsible, however it also doesn't help at all. Look at celebrities they make marriage look like your buying a car. After a couple years of driving it you give it back and try out something else. I think a lot of people see marriage as a glamour thing rather than a life long commitment.
pepsifreak13: facebook isn't the true factor. it's people being unfaithful.
-Sigrid-: I suppose FB could be a factor, in that someone could tag your significant other in a pic, which would result in an angry spouse. But I think the essence of marriage as a whole is just fading away. No one takes it seriously anymore =(
madaboutjess: Facebook is just a tool. It doesn't contribute in my mind cause its the people commiting the acts of betrayal and seduction.
zippy1357: people are living longer, the economy is bad so money is tight and people are stressed (it's been that way for more than the past couple years)...facebook is just the way people find out their marriage is already shot.
amor102: No it shouldnt be a factor. The institute of marriage was shot to hell even before facebook came along. The divorce rate in the US was close to 50% already how does facebook contribute to that!? There will always be cheaters and unhappy spouses with or without facebook
freeeaddys: the meaning was marriage was failing way before facebook came into the picture. people nowadays is using facebook as a fall man because of all the drama associated. people are and have been getting married for the wrong reasons, or they were married to the perfect person, but their desires got in the way.
Darkness_prevails: I don't think it is a major factor. Marriage is fading because everyone thinks that they love one another and that the marriage is based on love. But love doesn't exist. Once one of the parties realizes that this love is just an illusion they look for ways out of the marriage. Only those that can't find a way or are determined to ignore that fact can make a marriage work.
springbreaker: when you can accidentally look up (and hook-up) with an old bf/gf whenever things get rocky with your husband/wife, it just makes the temptation to cheat too easy to set up and get away with :)
social_pest: facebook has nothing to do with it...its the ppl USING fb....thats like saying that violent movies, video games, and music is the source of teen violence in this country...its a load of crap that the government wants ppl to believe in order to keep the public from owning up to their actions...after all, its easier to throw the blame everywhere EXCEPT for the source...
InLuvWithMyCoffeeCup: I wonder why that is O_O
gayguyinsussex: i think it can be a factor
boxocereal: How is facebook contributing to divorces??
