He was 20 years old. Last year he got really bad and I wish we would have put him to sleep because it was horrible watching him suffer. He didn't close his eyes for three days until he finally died.  willC_4567: It's really hard to deal with. when we put my dog to sleep last summer cause she hsd cancer it was really hard. I was there patting her when they did it and she just looked at me with those trusting eyes, it was so hard.
