How many of you here wish we had won the Vietnam War? What would you say if I told you that the Vietnamese people were fighting for their own freedom and most supported the North?

boxocereal
: Agree with crazy_cait99
rising_tide
: there are never winners in any war
rpgirl14
: technically, it was a conflict, but still, I think that we Americans should have kept our happy little butts here- even though we did mean well.
crazy_cait99
: Well being Canadian...lol....I would say that Americans should have kept their ass out of there and was only there for the same reasons they ever go to war....the economy....YEA!!!! BLOOD FOR OIL!!!!!
overmydeadbody
: ....the whole ordeal was to sav vietnam, from the vietnamese. ;)
stuck
: The Vietnam war was a travesty; i wouldn't know where to begin in answering this question. "stefficharisma : you have no perspective on history, that's what I would say" --> does this person realise that history is subjective? History is written from the perspective of the "winner". Boy, i'm tired.

: i love this guy...remarkable the first tag book i've found that wasn't filled with bullshit
moondust_189
: i dunno its to late at night to even think like that..lol
Do you guys understand that nothing is truly bad or good? The terms are subjective... but people really seem to insist that some things are truly evil. Hitler, for example. "All is opinion." "There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking mak

sargent_froggie
: Yes. Moral relativity. And he was a great leader, able to unite people in a single direction like very few leaders in history have ever been able to do. But the end result of his efforts? Not very promising.
rising_tide
: Even Hitler wasn't unredeemable. Not everything he did was evil.
rpgirl14
: you are so very correct.
Tempest7
: But of course!...
crazy_cait99
: I believe that people percieve things to be evil. But thats only based upon our own interpretations of the "truth", because to an Iraqi friend of mine, President Bush is the most evil man in the worl. But to some Americans.....well he's just the gosh darned best president and we should golly jee wll vote him in for a second time...... Just like beauty....truth is in the eye of the beholder.
overmydeadbody
: yes. 'murderers, you're murderers, we are not the same as you.' is a quote i always think of. I have a theory that when a person acts he always chooses the decision that he feels will improve the world. If he is wrong, he is misguided, not evil. the only act of evil is acting on selfishness, and understanding it. but evil is a collective thing, an evil act...comes from the misguidance or laziness or convictions of a large group of people, not of which can be blamed directly.
little_monkey
: There is a book called "The Science of Good and Evil," author slips my mind...Mcdonald? or something. Anyhow, I've heard the guy talk, and would suggest reading this if you can find it. My library doesn't carry it, yours might. Anyhow, the concept of good and evil is very subjective. Evil, unlike what G.W. Bush claims, cannot be stamped out. It is not really a state of being so much as vile actions, right? And angels and demons aren't real. There is no pure good or evil.
stuck
: Didn't nietszche write an essay or two on this? The title "Beyond Good and Evil" springs to mind for some reason...
guapagurl
: Interesting point, but I'll have to disagree on some terms. For instance, demons- evil, angels-good. Most of where I draw my lines as far as whats good and bad is based on biblical standards. I like your point though. Its deep!
chicopac
: Right, yeah then I know what you mean. That's exactly right, he succesfully manipulated them and it's understandable why they felt of him as a hero. I do agree with you, then. lol
chicopac
: Errm, considered good? No, I don't consider him good. I do not consider him good or bad. Both terms are subjective. He took advantage of the bad time Germany was having, and was good at it.
moondust_189
: OMG ..... lay off the painful questions.. i havent slept in 2 and ahalf days ..my brain HURTS....lol
my_sweet_charade
: excellent point
If you know anything about the Black Panthers, then were they considered a violent organization? If you don't know anything, don't respond... and that includes bullshit like "i dunt knoooo!!"

boxocereal
: LMAO...carebearlover_77's answer.. =p
crazy_cait99
: The Blank Panthers were a violent organization, but then again they had to fight violence with violence....not choosing the right path to try and stop the hate.
guapagurl
: Like most of what the other people said. Instead of saying Violent, Id use the word militant too. They werent a peaceful group, they were more of the "fighters" then the lovers like martian l. king jr.
chicopac
: No, I didn't know the answer to this question. I still don't, really.
bittersweet15
: You already know the answer to this question, and the same goes for the other two. But if i must... the Black Panthers WERE considered a violent organisation- by middle class WASPs. of course, it was not at all violent for bull connor to water cannon and set dogs on peaceful protestors in alabama... sorry im outspoken. it fucks off a hell of a lot of people.
carebearlover_77
: No, they aren't considered violent, they just eat when they are either hungry or scared, just like any other animal. Tag me and we'll talk
