JeffAs the head of the overall website, Student.com, I am just writing the initial post for the blog. Then I'll exit the stage. From here on in, it will be written by a number of different users in our community.
Rickweber, a longtime user of the site, whom has helped do a lot of research into bringing news of GLBTQ resources to our users, is going to be the editor of this blog. But of course the key to the success of this blog will be the writing of the entries. We received so much interest in writing for the blog from our users that for right now, we don't even want to select specific writers. All interested people are encouraged to submit entries for this blog. In time, we figure that several main writers will become regular writers of this blog. But we want to give everybody a chance to contribute.
From its very start back in the 90's, Student.com has had a very major, vibrant gay community. I am almost positive that we are the first general web community for students that featured a specific discussion forum for gay, lesbian, and bisexual students, and we also created a complete mini-site within our overall site called Gay Student Center. I'm real proud of that. And I've just been real happy about the fact that Student.com has always had a thriving and visible gay/les/bi community within it. There are a lot of people within the community whom have been a part of Student.com for many, many years, and that is super appreciated. I'd like to think that the introduction of this blog will bring the community within the community to a new level. For regular current users, you are invited to take a real active role in writing for this blog. And I hope that this blog will serve as a launching pad to make a bigger, better gay/les/bi community at Student.com and bring aboard many new users. Thanks for being a part of our site. This blog is now yours.

Sorry, but "Freedom of Speech" dies when you enter the school doors. It's called a "dress policy".
I'm sure it'll help people out even more than this site already has.
The community created on student.com for lgbt youth has helped me personally in a major way. The site helped me accept who I am and realize there are so many other people out there just like me :D
The blog will only help out more for me and others.
good luck, and good job so far!!!
I purchased a shirt that says "shut your mouth before I doodey in it" from doodeystore.com and wore it into school today. I was sent to the principals office and they made me turn it inside out. I think this is totally unfair. There is nothing offensive about the shirt, I just think its really funny. Can the school make me change? Isn't this freedom of speech?
Otherwise I'll probably forget it exists, lol.
