Our Government's Economic Policiesposted May 3, 2009 06:05 AM by mike05I hate to say I told you so... but, please read my last post? In that post, just a couple months ago, I was saying what would happen IF a company like GM went bankrupt. Now, a company has... Chrysler. And GM is looking like they might go bankrupt, either that or they are going to follow a government plan to lay off tons of employees. How has the government intervention helped these companies? How has it helped capitalism? Not at all. Our country is currently at a turning point: Do we allow the government to take over private industries? They already have. The Obama admin is telling GM what to do. That is called socialism, folks. I might be pessimistic, but I see us heading into an era where we are going to fight about socialism vs capitalism. So many people are apparently in favor of the government controlling companies... I am just lost. Why should the government control what used to be private companies? We have had large corporations fail in the past.... it hurt in the short term, yes, but the great thing about capitalism is that it recovers quickly. Competition does wonderful things when large companies fail. Chrysler and GM would have failed a while ago without government intervention, and now they are -still- failing. How has the agenda that liberals are pushing helped them? Yes, as I have admitted in the past, Bush passed stuff that went towards helping them, but you can not use that as an excuse to defend Obama's policies... he is taking what Bush did and multiplying it. Why is taking a failed policy and multiplying it seen as a good thing?
Liberals hate to hear it, but Bush was an extremely liberal republican when it came to spending. Any time I say that I get people really angry at me for saying it, but it is true. We need a true conservative republican to take the lead... we have not had one since Reagan. The republican party has an awesome opportunity right now to reform and get focused on core ideals, and I look forward to it happening.
A quick after thought after reading my first blog post... I thought I was centrist. Obama's admin is still as sketchy as they were when I made that first post. Obama has really pushed me towards the conservative side, I think. I still agree on social issues with liberals... but the real things that are affecting us right now are economic issues.
