mike05Hey folks. I'm glad to be here to give my opinion, for what it is worth. My name is Michael, and Jeff asked me to be a writer for the opinion blogs.
I consider myself centrist, that is, I am socially liberal yet economically conservative. Some would call me a libertarian, but I don't like that title. I prefer independent. Just as a couple examples, I think Bush expanded the government way too much, and I think Obama is not living up to his promise to be more open than previous governments.
I do have to say, when it comes to our new president, have you seen the first press conference of his administration? How about when his press secretary was asked if the new rules of torture would apply to Bin Laden, should he be captured... the guy avoided the question. Yep. He was not willing to tell us whether Bin Laden would be tortured or not. That sends a signal to me that Obama is not going to stick with his word. Just a short thing to think about, I have more, but will leave it for later.
